Hey everyone. Hope you all are well. We are less than two months from release of the first set of Star Wars Unlimited. Now we have seen over 200 cards and have seen all but 2 leaders at this point. We have access to a large majority of the card pool and have been able to play games with proxy decks, force table, and tts. I think we can get a gauge of what the meta for set 1 will look like so I’m going to dive right in to my set 1 meta predictions. 

1. Sabine will be everywhere 

I think Sabine is the ultimate gate keeper deck, she’s fast, she’s aggro, she can pile on damage, and everyone loves Sabine as a character. If you are going to any sort of competitive event around set 1 you need to make sure Sabine is in your gauntlet because I expect a lot of Sabine. 

2. Boba Fett, also everywhere 

Boba Fett is one of the most beloved characters in all of Star Wars fandom. Having him as a good set 1 leader is a huge boom for the game. He’s decent in 3 different aspect pairings and is a ton of fun to play. I think we probably see as much Boba Fett as Sabine. I do think Boba Fett will be better overall. 

3. The best set 1 deck will include vigilance 

A lot of great cards come in aggression and cunning but I think vigilance needs some more exploration overall. I can see an aggro deck paired with blue for some sustain and control options ending up being the strongest set 1 deck. Who the leader is and what the deck looks like I have no clue right now but it’s just a gut feeling I have. 

4. Thrawn and IG stay in the binder

 I know this isn’t much of a surprise but IG-88 and Thrawn are the two leaders that I think will stay in the most binders for set 1. I think we will see some Thrawn since he’s beloved by fans but just for the attachment and now the gameplay. I think both these heroes are a step or two behind everyone else right now. I think both leaders have potential but do not have the support needed currently. I do think IG will see less play due to his low health.  

5. There will be four or five top tier decks 

I think there will be four or five decks in set 1 fighting for the top spot based on gameplay so far. This is a huge testament to the hard work on game design, balance, and playtesting of the ffg team. I can see Boba Fett, Sabine, Luke,Vader, Leia, and Tarkin all being the top tier of the set 1 meta.
